1. Who is responsible
Smarttwara is the controller of your personal data. For any question about your data, contact us at the addresses below.
2. What we collect
- Account: the name, email address and photo of your Google account, when you sign in.
- Learning: lessons studied, answers given, scores, exams taken and your progress, and when you expect to sit your exam.
- Payments: the Mobile Money number you paid from, the amount, the plan and the payment status. We never see your PIN.
- Reminders: if you turn them on, the push address your browser uses to receive notifications.
- Reviews: what you write and the rating you give, and your name and photo if you agree to show them.
- Device and usage: pages opened and taps, phone and browser type, approximate location (from your IP address), and the ad that brought you.
- Messages you send us on WhatsApp or by email.
3. How we use it
- To provide the service and save your progress, including across devices you sign in on.
- To take payments and open your plan.
- To remind you to study, if you asked us to.
- To improve lessons, for example by finding questions many learners get wrong.
- To help you when you contact us.
- To measure how our ads perform.
- To protect the site and its users from fraud, and to comply with the law.
We do not sell your personal data.
4. Who we share it with
We work with service providers who help us run Smarttwara. Each receives only what it needs:
- Google: sign-in.
- Supabase: database and file storage.
- Vercel: website hosting.
- pawaPay, MTN and Airtel: payments.
- PostHog: product analytics.
- Meta (Facebook, Instagram): ad measurement. Your email and account id are hashed before they are sent; your phone number is never sent.
We may also disclose data to competent authorities when the law requires it.
5. Data stored outside Rwanda
Some of these providers store data outside Rwanda (for example in Europe or the United States). We choose providers with strong safeguards for personal data, and transfer data in line with Rwandan law.
6. Cookies and browser storage
We use cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in, save your progress, measure usage (PostHog) and measure ads (Meta). You can clear them in your browser, but that may sign you out or lose progress not yet saved to your account.
7. How long we keep it
- Account and learning data: for as long as your account exists. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete it within 30 days.
- Payment records: for as long as accounting and tax law requires.
- Usage data: only as long as needed to improve the site.
8. Your rights
You have the right to:
- access the data we hold about you and get a copy of it;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- ask us to delete your account and data;
- object to or stop some uses of your data, such as reminders;
- withdraw consent you have given.
To use these rights, contact us. We reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA).
9. Security
Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS), our storage is access-controlled, and only the few team members who need it for their work can see it.
10. Children
Smarttwara is meant for people preparing for a driving licence. If you are under 18, use Smarttwara with the agreement of a parent or guardian.
